FINE POLICY

             One dollar a day for each day, excluding weekends, it is overdue.  Maximum $15.00.

 

UNPAID FINES

             Students who do not pay their fines within a month, will loose library access privileges until fine is paid.              The school administration will be notified of any unpaid fines. 

 

LOST BOOKS

           ?A student who loses a library book is responsible for replacement plus a $10.00 charge for cataloging.

 

DAMAGED BOOKS

           ?Misused or damaged books will be charged to the borrower.

 

ORIENTATION

           ?Incoming students are given special orientation by the Librarian regarding use of libraries at Holy              Name Medical Center and the School of Nursing Library.

 

COMPUTERS

The computer lab is open 24 hours / 7 days per week only with school ID badge access.

Appropriate Use: Individuals at Holy Name Hospital are encouraged to use the Internet to further the goals and objectives of Holy Name Hospital. The types of activities that are encouraged include:

1. Communicating with fellow employees, business partners of Holy Name Hospital, and clients within the context of an individual’s assigned responsibilities;

2. Acquiring or sharing information necessary or related to the performance of an individual’s assigned responsibilities;

3. Participating in educational or professional development activities.

 

Inappropriate Use: Internet use at Holy Name Hospital will comply with all Federal and State laws, and all Holy Name Hospital policies. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

1. The Internet may not be used for illegal or unlawful purposes, including, but not limited to, copyright infringement, obscenity, libel, slander, fraud, defamation, plagiarism, harassment, intimidation, forgery, impersonation, illegal gambling, soliciting for illegal pyramid schemes, and computer tampering (e.g. spreading computer viruses);

2. The Internet may not be used in any way that violates Holy Name Hospital’s policies, rules, or administrative directives including, but not limited to, Holy Name Hospital’s separate VPN agreement, Code of Conduct, and other IT related policies. Use of the Internet in a manner that is not consistent with the mission of Holy Name Hospital, misrepresents Holy Name Hospital, or violates any Holy Name Hospital policy is prohibited;

3. In the interest of maintaining network performance, users should not send unreasonably large electronic mail attachments.

Streaming media. Streaming media broadcasts, such as Youtube, Hulu, or those that work with Microsoft’s Windows Media Player, RealNetworks RealOne Player, Apple’s QuickTime Player, Musicmatch’s Musicmatch Jukebox On Demand, Adobe’s Flash Player and any other streaming media application, consume significant network bandwidth and can delay access to and/or prevent other employees from accessing legitimate business resources and completing business-critical tasks. Streaming media files also require large amounts of storage space when saved to a hard disk. In order to ensure the organization's resources are used properly, and in order to minimize costs, employees may only download streaming media files which serve specific business-related purposes.

Instant Messaging and Social Networking. Instant Messaging and Social Networking is prohibited at Holy Name Hospital. Examples of Instant Messaging applications include AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger Service, Yahoo! Messenger, and Google Talk. Examples of Social Networking applications include Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Friendster, Bebo, and hi5. Besides using up a portion of the available network bandwidth, some Instant Messaging and Social Networking applications provide means in which a virus or malware can be introduced into the hospitals?network, and finally these technologies may distract one’s ability to perform their job.

Monitoring and Filtering. Holy Name Hospital may monitor any Internet activity occurring on Holy Name Hospital equipment. Holy Name Hospital employs filtering software to limit access to sites on the Internet. If Holy Name Hospital discovers activities which do not comply with applicable law or departmental policy, records retrieved may be used to document the wrongful content in accordance with due process.

 

RULES OF THE LIBRARY

1. The library staff is not responsible for any items left unattended.  Absolutely no food or drinks are allowed in the Library.

2. All books must be signed out using the sign-out card in the back of the book by the student, in pen, with a legible last name, first initial and the abbreviation "RN" or "LPN" to designate school.

3. Students must show a valid Holy Name ID badge to sign out materials, and wear it at all times while in the Library facility.  Students not wearing ID may be asked to leave the library.

4. Cell Phones must be silent or on vibrate while in the library.

5. Books and resources cannot be removed from the Library without signing them out.  Should the librarian or School staff be occupied elsewhere, patrons must place the sign- out card in the box on the staff’s desk.

 

ENFORCEMENT OF LIBRARY POLICY

 Library policy will be enforced by the School Library and Administrative staff.  Infractions will be duly reported and discussed with students with all appropriate disciplinary measures enacted.
